LEGO Robotics Enrichment Programme

@ Faith, Foochow & Serangoon Garden Methodist Preschools

The LEGO Robotics Enrichment Programme offered at Faith, Foochow & Serangoon Garden Methodist Preschools for the K1 & K2 cohort seeks to inspire and develop an interest in S.T.E.M (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) education through hands-on LEGO Robotics activities. Children will learn how to build a variety of small-scale LEGO robots from scratch and programme them to move using WeDo coding software on iPads or tablets. Methodist Preschool is pleased to partner providers with extensive experience conducting quality LEGO Robotics programmes for preschoolers that promise to be fun and rewarding!

Programme Objectives and Desired Outcomes

  • Develop an interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM)

By exploring a variety of S.T.E.M. topics, creating robots related to these topics and seeing them come to life, children will develop a genuine interest in these subjects as they become real and relevant.

  • Understand the basics of robotics

Children will learn the basic concepts of robotics - such as the physical components of robots, how to build better robots and how to make them move - by being actively involved in the learning experience.

  • Learn to build small-scale LEGO robots from scratch

Children will use blocks, connectors, gears and motors to build robots step-by-step. They will also learn and understand the mechanics of building.

  • Understand simple coding concepts

Children will learn to programme the robots’ movements using WeDo coding software on iPads or tablets.

  • Enhance logical thinking and problem-solving skills

After learning the basics of building and robotics, children will be encouraged to customise their robots and create their own designs by applying the knowledge and skills they have acquired.

  • Learn Collaboration and Teamwork

Children will engage in cooperative learning by working in pairs or small groups to discuss various challenges and to devise their own solutions.

Our Experienced LEGO Robotics Providers

Kids Peak Learning Hub

LEGO Robotics enrichment lessons at Faith & Foochow Methodist Preschools will be conducted by experienced trainers from Kids Peak Learning Hub. Established in 2012, Kids Peak is an education provider that offers a range of quality programmes for preschoolers and primary school students.

One of their most popular programmes, Lego Robotics, inspires children to develop an interest in S.T.E.M education and also encourages problem-solving and critical thinking. Children learn to build robots from scratch and use block-based programming to make their creations move and come to life.

Their ethos is that learning is life’s greatest adventure, so their team of professional instructors work hard to make every lesson is fun and rewarding!

XJQ Enterprise Pte Ltd

LEGO Robotics enrichment lessons at Serangoon Garden Methodist Preschool will be conducted by experienced trainers from XJQ Enterprise Pte Ltd.

Trainers will teach K1 & K2 preschoolers how to build small-scale robots and programme them to move, while exploring fascinating topics such as natural disasters, predators and preys, etc.

Students will start with guided projects where step-by-step instructions will be provided. They will then progress to semi-guided open open projects where they will create builds based on their imagination about given themes. Students will then transit to intermediate projects where they are encouraged to work more independently on more complex and challenging models.
