Serangoon Garden Methodist Preschool (SGMP), formerly known as Chen Su Lan Methodist Childcare, joins the family of preschools managed by Methodist Preschool Services Pte Ltd (MPS) in 2023. Located within the spacious vicinity of Chen Su Lan Methodist Children’s Home, we have been providing quality full-day (7am – 7pm) programme for children aged 18 months to 6 years old for residents in the surrounding neighbourhoods of Serangoon Garden and Ang Mo Kio since 1985.
Outdoor play is critical for healthy development of preschoolers. A distinctive draw to both children and parents is our vast outdoor play area that features climbing bars, slides, a soccer court for ball games, a basketball court for safe-cycling and a courtyard for water-play. Our young preschoolers enjoy exploring the flora and fauna within the lush garden and love observing fishes swimming gracefully in the koi pond, a rare feature in a childcare facility!
Our fully-air-conditioned indoor facilities are well-equipped to provide a comfortable and conducive environment like a home away from home for our little ones to learn, play, eat and nap. Our educators are qualified and well-trained to ensure holistic development of precious children entrusted to us. Our small teacher-child ratio permits close monitoring of our children to progress at their own pace to reach their potential. Our holistic STEM-based and tech-enabled curriculum nurtures every child to be a person of Good Character, who is an Explorer, an Innovator and an Entrepreneur.

Hi there! I am Sarah, and I am very much excited to lead the team of Serangoon Garden Methodist Preschool.
I have been in this field of early childhood for the past 12 years. So, what keeps me going? It is the happy smiles and warm greetings that I get each day from all our children. It is always a delight to see our children learning joyfully and growing up in a nurturing environment where good character values are instilled in them.

Our Programme.
We offer full-day programme from 7am - 7pm for children aged 18 Months to 6 years old. In accordance with Ministry of Education guidelines for preschool admission, the age of a child is calculated based on 1 January of the year of admission.

Working, non-working mothers and single fathers are eligible for Basic & Enhanced Subsidy.
Our Curriculum.
Our integrated thematic curriculum promotes learning through concrete experiences, play, project works and field trips. Comfortable social spaces and interactive learning corners are designed to facilitate active learning. Our Core Curriculum provides comprehensive coverage of the six learning domains for holistic development in accordance with MOE’s Nurturing Early Learners (NEL) curriculum. Innovative Education Technology is integrated into our curriculum to enhance both the teaching and learning processes of our young minds. It also builds their digital competence as we future-proof them to work and live in an increasingly technology-dependent society in the 21st century.

The Methodist Preschool Applied Learning Programme aims to foster creative and critical thinking and practise the skills necessary to excel in project-based environments through the application of S.T.E.M (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) education. It comprises a wide range of modules that seek to inspire exploration, innovation and develop attributes of entrepreneurship in preparing our preschoolers for future-readiness. The Key to Learning (Construction) : K2L module will be introduced to preschoolers at SGMP in 2023. K2L is based on constructive play that develops children’s creativity, imagination and their ability to plan, articulate and execute their plans within a guided programme. It also sharpens children’s ability to analyse the structure of objects in relation to other block parts, hence improving their spatial visualisation capability.

Wesley has grown within the school environment, having joined when he was just 17 months old. It's safe to say that he has learned and experienced a great deal during his time at the school.
